Shingles Eligibility

Shingles Vaccine

The criteria for a free NHS shingles vaccine has changed. Patients who are eligible for a vaccine are:

* those aged 70-79

* those who turn 65 on or after 1st September 2023

* people aged 50 and over who have a severely weakened immune system (this could include some people with blood cancer, some people with HIV or AIDS, some people who have had a recent stem cell transplant/chemotherapy/radiotherapy or an organ transplant, or those taking certain medications that severely weaken their immune system).

If you do not qualify for a free shingles vaccine, you can pay for these privately at some of the larger pharmacy chains.
